Le Petit Choeur was formed in 1994.  The purpose of its creation was to offer the musically and vocally advanced singer an opportunity for further study.  The choir is a select ensemble of girls ranging in age from 13-18 years (grades 8-12).  Rehearsals are held during the school year each week for two hours. In 1997, Le Petit Choeur competed at the Heritage Music Festival in Chicago where they received the Gold Award and the Outstanding Choral Performance Award.  In 1998, Le Petit Choeur competed at the National level in the Heritage Festival of Gold.  The group received top ratings and was chosen as the featured choir to perform at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. They have also been invited to perform at the State and Divisional Conventions of the American Choral Directors Association. 

In the Spring of 1999, Le Petit Choeur made its first international tour, performing in England and Wales.  In 2000, the ensemble was chosen as the featured choir in Carnegie Hall for the Florida High School Youth Chorale.   Additionally, the choir has performed at various universities including, Florida State University, University of Florida, and Louisiana State University.  In 2003, Le Petit made its second international tour with performances throughout Scotland. 

In 2004, select members participated in the performance of Krystof Penderecki’s “Credo” with the Florida State University Choirs and Symphony Orchestra.  Additionally, Le Petit Choeur was invited to perform at the 2004 ACDA Southern Division Convention in Nashville, TN.  In 2005, they were selected to perform at the ACDA National Convention in Los Angeles, CA. 

In 2006, Le Petit Choeur will compete in the National Heritage Festival of Gold in Chicago, IL with performances in Symphony Hall.
